Building a Light Stand
|
This year build a simple light stand for starting vegetable and flower seeds in late winter. Grow the seedlings under lights until they're ready for the garden. This easy design will hold four flats of seedlings and two fluorescent shop lights that are hung from chains so the height can be adjusted as the seedlings grow.
To build the stand you will need a hacksaw, PVC glue, and about $30 worth of 3/4 inch PVC piping and fittings (see materials chart bottom below).
The vertical pipes are not glued so the stand can be taken apart for storage.

Step 1 – Cut and Assemble the Stand
Start with the bottom section as shown on the left. Two screws in a board will help hold the pipe as you cut (far left inset). |
