'Annabelle'

HYDRANGEA arborescens 'ANNABELLE'
Annabelle is a stunning white hydrangea, often producing heads over 10" in diameter. Unlike the better known blue and pink hydrangeas (macrophyllas), Annabelle blooms every year even after severe pruning or intensely cold winters. The huge, white "drumstick" blooms appear in profusion without fail.

Discovered in an Anna, Illinois, garden, Annabelle is perhaps the most popular old-fashioned shrub grown in American gardens. Once established, it produces enormous, 12-inch, globe-shaped flowerheads of snowy white starting in early summer and increasing in size until mid-to-late summer. This truly spectacular hydrangea grows to 4 feet. It is a splendid landscape plant that never gets out of bounds.

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Ayesha'
If you thought you'd seen everything that Bigleaf Hydrangeas can do, you were wrong. 'Ayesha' has not been widely available, so most gardeners are stunned by her lightly fragrant trusses of cupped flowers that start out a soft pink to pastel blue and age darker. With even moisture, plants grow quickly and cover themselves in bloom.

This mophead hydrangea prefers full or part sun and will bloom from July to September. It will grow 4 to 5 feet and should be spaced 4 feet apart.
