I read somewhere once that container gardening is the “great equalizer.” If you have enough space for a pot, you’re only limited by your imagination. Whether it’s flowers, herbs, or vegetables, you can have a garden.
I try everything in pots. I particularly love mixing perennials with house plants, herbs, annuals, and ground covers. The best is when I discover a completely new combination; one that I would’ve never considered before. This happens more often now that I’m working with a garden center that specializes in sourcing unique plants.
How wonderful to work in an environment that allows me to try new things every day. When someone wants to collaborate on a design and ultimately trusts me with something as personal as their front porch or storefront- how could I be more honored?

After 20 years as an educator, I am lucky to have found a new passion in horticulture. I completed the Horticulture program through Meramec Community College last winter. 2026 marks my second year with Garden Heights Nursery and second year with the Create department designing and installing containers for local homes and businesses.
Client consultations are my favorite part of my job and allow me to tailor individual container designs for a specific aesthetic or purpose. I love using my plant knowledge to design containers that will thrive and bloom throughout the season. Our robust inventory of annuals, perennials and houseplants provide for endless possibilities and combinations.
My favorite plant is Plectranthus 'Guacamole'. Versatile and resilient, it adds bright, contrasting color and texture ideal for hanging baskets, containers, and borders in partial shade. In my spare time I enjoy working in my yard, reading and spending time with my family.
